                   Equus caballus

Appaloosas have very colorful, spotted

coat patterns and striped hooves.  They usually have brown eyes, yet some have hazel or blue eyes.  The coloring of an Appaloosa is the main way to identify this breed.  Appaloosas can be found in a variety of different body shapes such as: stock, sport, race, pleasure, and trail.  Most Appaloosas found in horse shows resemble the quarter horse’s body type.
